Children are little explorers by nature who have a lot of fun experimenting, exploring and playing with their toys. However, it's important to keep in mind the safety that should always come first for making better informed toy purchases. So how can you choose suitable toys for your children under 5 years?
Tips to help parents choose safe and appropriate toys for their child:
• Toy labels: Warning labels give parents important
information about how to use the toy, and the
appropriate ages for safe use.
• Toys size and its contents: Parents need to
make sure all toys and parts are larger than their
children's mouth, and avoid those that have loose
ribbons, strings or small bean-like pellets or
stuffing that may cause choking, or suffocation
if swallowed.
• Parents should avoid choosing toys that shoot
objects into the air, which may cause serious eye
injuries or choking while children play with them.
• Parents should ensure they are buying the toys
with “nontoxic” labels and safety marks,
especially the electrical ones.
