Sharjah Ladies Run launched its eighth edition on January 14, 2023 in Shaghrafa Ladies Park in Sharjah, which is one of the most important annual sports events in the Emirate of Sharjah and it aims to encourage adopting a healthy lifestyle.

The event whereas 300 women from 25 different nationalities participated, with 65% of participants being Emiratis. The event included a competitive 5KM race, and the same distance for ladies who wanted to enjoy running for fun. As encouragement to Emirati women, 3 prizes were presented to the first three winners in the Emirati competitive 5KM category, Ruqaya Al Marzooqi, Noor Kuhail and Moza Al Ghafli, and 3 prizes were presented to the first three winners in the competitive 5KM category, Chloe Tighe, Latifa Cheliaoui and Latifa Essarokh. All winners received cash prizes with a total value of 20,000 dirhams, as well as gifts from the event sponsors SQUAFWOLF, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority – Shurooq and Emirates General Petroleum (Emarat).

On this occasion, Her Excellency Khawla Al Serkal, Director General of the Sharjah Ladies Club, said, “We aim to encourage women through Sharjah Ladies Run to adopt a healthy lifestyle. We put significant efforts into bringing together this successful event in cooperation with various concerned organizations and entities. In line with the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed AlQasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of Sharjah Ladies Club, the club promotes the concept of healthy life among women of the society, and is keen to raise awareness on the importance of exercise as a way of life.

Duaa Al Mahri, Director of Corporate Communication Department at Sharjah Ladies Club, added: “In a private and safe environment for women and an atmosphere full of activity and liveliness, the Club’s facilities provided distinguished services and activities whereas, Orchid Beauty Boutique presented a distinctive beauty package, and Dalouk Wellness Spa provided a group of therapeutic services for relaxation that help relieve stress, and complimentary services when choosing from various services. Collage Talent Center also participated with popular interactive activities, and the sports complex organized various competitive activities. Sharjah Women's Sports also presented a range of sports activities, including Volleyball, Table Tennis and Basketball, making this edition more exceptional by stimulating energies and emphasizing on the importance of physical activity in the life of individuals, especially women.”
